The BHS Tutoring Club is new this year and intended to serve the needs of our middle and elementary students on the Broadneck Peninsula. We are supporting the Broadneck Chapter of the National Honor Society on this philanthropic endeavor. If you aspire to be a part of NHS at Broadneck, and are a sophomore or junior, there will be an informational meeting in January, and you’ll apply in February. A track record of service to the community is a required component of being accepted to NHS. Clearly with Covid, being able to go out and help in person in the community is difficult, however, being a member of the tutoring club and actively helping teach students will definitely be a step in the right direction on your application. Not interested in joining NHS in the future? That’s perfectly fine too. If you want to help mentor a middle school or elementary school student we are happy to have you. Please submit the form below to sign up. We’ll meet online every Monday during Grey Block at: https://classroom.google.com/c/MTU4MjQ3NjkyNTAy?cjc=akrh5tf
Involvement
The tutoring system was created by a partnership between NHS officers Avery Morrison, Katie Figueras, Gaby Echiverri, Elysa Hines, and Hartley Acosta and the leaders of the tutoring club, Carina Ruyter, Reid Schuncke, Nivedha Rao, Annalise Broerman, and Mei Pierson.
Under 18, a parent must agree to the conditions under which you’ll be tutoring. If above 18, you are the responsible party.
I understand that my child/I, agree to specific criteria for membership and to actively tutor students in an appropriate manner at all times. An adult will be available to monitor the sessions to ensure the safety of all parties involved. The tutor commits to being assigned a student randomly and will agree to tutor that student at least 2 times per week for 30 minutes per day. The tutor agrees to communicate with the parents of the student being tutored to set up days/times convenient to both parties. The tutor and those being tutored will use google meet and must have a gmail account to do so.
